When I wrote some time ago about the mismarketing of André Balazs’ William Beaver House, the full extent of the financial crisis hadn’t yet been revealed, nor the tower’s facade. Here it is in all its faux-gold-on-black glory. I imagine the eccentrically styled,  bachelor pad/pied-a-terre market has further deteriorated since. I’m curious about the occupancy in a not-quite-enough-to-Google-it way.

Incidentally, I overheard this gem from a passerby to his companion around the time of this photo: “Whoever built this monstrosity of a building should be slapped.”

I used to pass this monstrosity while walking between two work buildings back in the JPMorgan days. I actually saw them building it, and when we all realized that this was actually the final design, we had exactly the same feelings. The designer should be slapped.
