Party seats Fla., Mich. delegations
OK … so I watched some of the deliberations today and I must say that 1) I never believed the Democratic rank-and-file, the committee members, and the observers in the gallery could be so childish; and 2) how can rules be so friggin’ complicated?
There were a lot of F-ups in the entire process. I just learned that the Florida decision to change primary dates actually came from the Republicans (the a-holes). Should FL be punished for that? Tough call…
Michigan, on the other hand, knew what they were doing, had full knowledge of what they were doing and gave the Democratic party the big bird-finger. They SHOULD be punished.
That said, why do we need to analyze these rules again? Why do special occasions need to be taken? Each candidate agreed that the votes wouldn’t count. Sure, kinda sucks for FL which didn’t really have a choice. MI has it coming.
Now… the fun part. The Rules Committee gets together [in what I must say was a fascinating display of parliamentary procedure] to discuss what’s already been agreed upon, and ultimately changes their collective mind.
OK - I’ll agree with the FL decision. They shouldn’t have to keep paying for the Republicans’ screwing up their state. 50% count is a good deal. Michigan should have stayed at 0% in my humble opinion.
Now… there are members in the peanut gallery who aren’t happy (Hillary fans to be specific) and they caused such an uproar that the committee seated could barely finish their proceedings. How f’n childish is that? Way to represent your candidate, and way to represent your party. Give me a break!
Update: Here’s another link of the protests specifically.
And here’s a link of Democratic idiot and Clinton supporter Harold Ickies claiming the rest of the committee doesn’t respect the rules when HE’S one of the people who voted to not have MI and FL count in the first place. My favorite part is when he attacks this plan saying it will hurt the party unity. Pretty much the only thing it will hurt is Hillary.
