Pelosi in dispute with CIA over interrogation
Republicans Dispute Pelosi’s Claim That She Couldn’t Stop Interrogation Techniques
When the American public (and the media) ask why we’re not investigating and prosecuting the former administration for what we (and the world community) have established as torture (and they have admitted to practicing AND finding ways to call it legal) it’s because we want to look forward and not dwell on the mistakes of the past.
Now instead of looking forward, we’re dwelling on what Pelosi knew at the time (in the Congressional minority, and rather powerless). We’re focusing on if the CIA is lying now or if Pelosi is the female Antichrist for allowing this policy of torture to happen on her watch?
Yes. I think something’s amiss. We don’t want to bring charges to those who put the plan in motion and find any possible way to justify what they’ve done, but we’re going to attack and criticize someone who wasn’t in a power position at the time because she might have known that specific people were being waterboarded. Personally, I don’t believe Pelosi and I think she was aware of what was going on in 2003. I also think she knew she couldn’t stop it but if she picked her battles, she might be able to change the party in control of Congress and/or the White House. So she played some politics (that arguably might change the world for the better). Shame on her. Should she have to pay for ignoring torture for the time in pursuit of worthy goals? Probably. But if she’s so culpable, why are we not going after those who actually authorized torture and pretended it was legal?
